History

"Sri Ramaswamy Naidu Vidyalayam" was started by Sri. LRG Naidu in the name of his father in 1946 before India’s independence. Having understood that the first and foremost need of the hour was to start a high school at his remote native he started the school in the name of his father. The school was inaugurated by His Highness Raja of Bhavanagar, the then Governor of the erstwhile Madras Presidency.

Right from the inception the school was provided with hostel for students and quarters facilities for staff. He was a pioneer in providing noon meals to the students from nearby villages. The hostel was intended for all irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

The School became a higher secondary school in 1978. In 1994 with the existing Government aided wing with Tamil as medium of instruction, a self-financing wing with English as medium of instruction was also started with state board syllabus. Scholarships are also being given to students on merit cum means basis from 1948 onwards. The school caters to the needs of about more than 50 villages. The alumni of the School are well placed world over.

The socio economic background of the parents of the school is predominantly below average and therefore the school could not expect any support from them for any financial need either to provide infrastructural facilities or for the normal maintenance. Therefore the school management meets all its requirements through the support of its trusts.

The biggest challenge for the teachers of this school is creating awareness among the parents about the necessity of education for their children.  With continuous efforts by conducting regular parents meetings now the school is able to succeed to a considerable extent but still there is good scope for the parents to be developed.

Good teaching is not in the Mind but it is in the Heart. The teacher should act as a Guide and not a Sage on the Stage. To make classes more entertaining, teachers should always think of innovative ideas. At the end of every day the students must leave the school with a smile, looking forward the next day with the same spirit and to that extent the teacher must inspire them.

Keeping this in mind the teachers are regularly provided with various teacher development programmes.

The School has now 1450 students from 1st Standard to 12th Standard with 50 teachers serving both in Tamil and English medium wings. The hostel has about 100 students and with the new buildings it can accommodate 50 more in the coming year.

Sri LRG Naidu, the Founder, was its first President. After his demise in 1970, his first son Sri LG Balakrishnan became the President and was in that post during his life time till 1998. Later Sri L G Varadarajulu, the second son of Sri LRG Naidu became the President. After he stepped down in 2008, Sri B Vijayakumar, son of Sri L G Balakrishnan, became the President.
